TAQNYA 2007

The Chairman of GPTC, Dr.Mohammad Moammar, opened on Sunday evening the 27th of May 2007, the 3rd Annual Exhibition of Telecommunication & Information Technology, TAQNYA 2007 which is organized by the General Post & Telecommunication Company and is held at Tripoli's International Fair.

He has, also, visited the pavilions and divisions of the fair along with a large number of diplomats, representatives from governmental institutes, some of Ambassadors accredited to Libya and private businesses . He also viewed the exhibited models, which reflect the advanced technology used in the field of communication & Information Technology and the latest communication systems.

The number of local and international companies participating in this fair has reached 69 companies specialized in the fields of communication and Information Technology which characterized by organizational success achievements as will as marked large number of visitors and communications & IT interests.

Among the fair activities, Dr.Mohammad Moammar, in presence of a number of local and international press representatives, conducted a press conference in which he talked about what has been achieved in the Libyan communication & IT sector.

On the sidelines of TAQNYA 2007, on the other hand, the project of Public Phone (PCO & Payphone) using Thuraya Satellite Communication Systems have been established, as will as a contract between GPTC and Acatel-Lucent have been signed to improve the national sub-marine cables of Libya.
