The First Annual Exhibition for Communication & Information Technology The activities of the first Annual Telecommunications and Information Technology exhibition, TAQNYA 2005, which was held under the auspice of The General Post and Telecommunication Company, have concluded with much success. The exhibition is considered the event of the year for the Libyan communication and IT sector.

TAQNYA 2005 was commenced by Eng. Saif Al-islam Algaddafi along with the acting Secretary of the General People's Committee for GPTC and the Secretary of the General People's Committee in the General Electronics Company, also attending the commencement of the Exhibition were a number of dignitary managers and ambassadors and commercial attachés. The Exhibition witnessed the participation of 56 companies from 16 different countries.

AQNYA 2005 was held at the Tripoli international fair on the 29th of May 2005, it was initially planned to continue till the 31st of May 2005, but was extended for one more day upon requests from participating companies encouraged by the exhibition's success and the intensity of visitor turnout.

A number of seminars and commercial presentations by the GPTC and its subsidiaries and international companies were delivered in association with the exhibition. GPTC also embraced “during the exhibition” a miniature exhibition for Libyan Inventors and for Libyan Scientific Non-governmental Associations and Societies.
